Services:

Swedish massage:

Generally regarded as the most common form of massage, Swedish massage involves a combination of five basic strokes and concentrates on the muscles and connective tissues of the body for improved circulation, relaxation, pain relief, and overall health maintenance and well-being. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic wastes.

Deep-tissue Massage:

Deep-tissue massage utilizes slow strokes, direct pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles with the fingers, thumbs, forearms or elbows. Focused and intensive, deep-tissue massage works deeply into the muscles and connective tissue to provide relief to sore, tired and tense muscles; its purpose is to reach the fascia, also known as connective tissue, beneath the surface muscles. This technique is extremely useful in treating chronic aches and pains, inflammation and injury.

Pre-natal Massage:

Prenatal, or pregnancy, massage uses gentle techniques to help alleviate some of the ailments associated with pregnancy including lower back and sciatic nerve pain, neck and shoulder tension, fatigue, joint tenderness and insomnia. Prenatal massage can also help improve circulation, promote stress reduction and relaxation. I have available a pregnancy massage pillow that allows most clients to lie on their stomachs through their 8th, and sometimes 9th, month of pregnancy. I work on clients through their second and third trimesters. Clients should check with their doctors prior to receiving treatment.

Sports Massage:

The main purpose of sports massage is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Sports massage helps drain away fatigue, reduce muscle tension, relieves swelling and promotes flexibility. It can also promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen chances of injury and reduce recovery time.

Hot Stone Massage:

Hot stone massage is modern in application, but ancient in origins. Many cultures have used stones for therapeutic benefits dating as far back as 1500-3000 B.C. This time-honored therapy glides smooth heated stones over the body, delivering penetrating warmth that eases the mind and muscles. The premise behind hot stone massage is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing access to their deeper muscle layers. Long soothing strokes increase circulation, improve tone and have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.

Reiki:

While not an actual form of massage, Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") is often practiced in conjunction with bodywork. Reiki originated in Tibet and has been practiced for over 2,500 years. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - rei, meaning God’s wisdom, higher power or universal force, and ki, meaning life energy. So Reiki is universal or spiritually-guided life-force energy. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing through light touch or, more commonly, by placing the hands near the body in specific positions. Through Reiki, energetic imbalances in the body can be corrected by removing toxic energy, improving health and restoring a person's energy levels. Reiki is a natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Many have reported miraculous results.

Chair Massage:

Chair massage is a massage treatment that focuses on the high tension areas of the neck, back, shoulders, arms & hands. Chair massage is done fully clothed in a specially designed portable massage chair that supports the body in a relaxed position. Treatments usually last from 10-15 minutes and include both relaxation and tension relieving massage, as well as techniques designed to relieve repetitive strain injuries. Chair massage is administered on-site at various locations, including health fairs, fundraising events, parties and corporate settings. Research has verified office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who weren’t massaged. Massage therapy emphasizes the capacity for calm thinking and creativity. Contact me today to schedule a (2.5 hr.) session for your company or event.
